Valerie Dueck – Pianist
Ottawa-based pianist Valerie Dueck has pursued a wide variety of solo and collaborative endeavours, performing with the Ottawa Chamber Music Society, in various broadcasts for CBC Radio, on two recital tours of China with violinist David Stewart, and at the Musikverein's Brahms and Gläserner Saals. Valerie completed postgraduate studies in accompanying at the University of Vienna with David Lutz, and, while in Vienna, performed repeatedly as soloist, with singers from Vienna’s Staatsoper and Volksoper and with musicians from the Vienna Philharmonic. In 2007, Valerie appeared in the Schoenberg Symposium at the Ottawa International Chamber Music Society and participated in the inaugural performances of the Five Boroughs Music Festival in New York City. This past summer, Valerie was engaged as repetiteur/assistant music director for Vienna’s Schloss Schönbrunn production of Die Fledermaus, under conductor Herbert Mogg. Valerie completed a highly successful tour of China with Dueck Three, her “six-hands, one piano trio” with siblings Byron and Jocelyn in May of 2007, and has received an invitation to return in 2009. Dueck Three will next perform together this coming March at New York City’s Steinway Hall.
